Creative Director, Factual

Sheldon Lazarus joined September Films as Creative Director, Factual, in July 2007 from At It Productions where he was Head of Factual and now works alongside Director of Programmes, Peter Davey, with a remit “to build on the range and depth of the company’s non-fiction portfolio on both sides of the Atlantic”. In his first 6 months at September, Sheldon won over £2m of commissions including BOYS JOINED AT THE HEAD for Five (UK) and Discovery Health (US), STEPHEN WILTSHIRE: THE HUMAN CAMERA for Five and the feature-length THE LOST ARK OF THE COVENANT for The History Channel (US) and Channel 4 (UK). Further commissions for Channel 4 (UK) and A&E (US) are in the pipeline as well as development deals for The History Channel (US) and Tru TV (US). With a distinguished track record in TV production, Sheldon’s other factual and documentary credits include HALF TON MUM for Channel 4 which aired in January 2008 and achieved the highest documentary ratings for the channel in over a year; THE WORLD’S HEAVIEST MAN - a three part series for TLC and Discovery UK, and Don't Try this At Home! - a major primetime history pilot for The History Channel US. Other recent factual credits include BRIDE AND GROOMING for FIVE; FACEMAKERS for TLC Discovery; EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE documentaries for FIVE and Discovery; SUPERQUADS for Discovery; THE GIRL WHO LIVES IN THE DARK for Sky One; SECOND CHANCE for TLC/Discovery; A NEW FACE FOR MARLINE for Discovery Health/TLC and the 1x60 HALF MAN FULL LIFE for Discovery. To coincide with him joining the company, September Films have signed up with top US agents, CAA, and Sheldon will be working closely with them across all US broadcasters. September Films also plan to open a Manhattan office which he will use as a springboard to complement and build on September’s Los Angeles operation at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood.
