Director of Programmes

Peter Davey joined DCD-owned September Films as Head of Factual Entertainment in January 2005, while producing the UK version of the US reality format PLAYING IT STRAIGHT for Channel Four. Prior to his promotion to Director of Programmes, he produced for September the feature-length HOLLYWOOD AUTOPSY documentary for SKY ONE and NEIGHBOURS FROM HELL for ITV1. In his new role, he Executive Produced the ITS NOW OR NEVER entertainment format for ITV1 after making the UK version of the US reality hit BEAUTY AND THE GEEK for C4/ E4. His September Films credits also include the HOLLYWOOD LIVES series for ITV1 and THE DUCHESS docu-drama for HGTV, and most recently ALAN WHICKER’S JOURNEY OF A LIFETIME for BBC2, MALL COPS: MALL OF AMERICA for TLC, WHEN WOMEN RULE THE WORLD for C4, and JOAN DOES GLAMOUR for ITV1 Davey started his career on The BAFTA award winning youth current affairs show NETWORK SEVEN, moving onto the Factual Programmes department at LWT. During nine years there he rose from being a researcher to an Executive Producer with a reputation for both running and creating new shows. Davey worked on single documentary films RETURN TO THE PLACE OF THE DEAD, through peak time factual entertainment ONE IN A MILLION, PREDICTIONS, specialist factual HEALTHWATCH, MISSING, CRIME MONTHLY, factual drama THE PLACE OF THE DEAD and even comedy THERE’S ONLY ONE BRIAN MOORE, HEROES AND VILLAINS. He also devised and developed what became “I’M A CELEBRITY, GET ME OUT OF HERE”. In 1997 he moved to Hewland International, running the innovative Sky drama Dream Team and developing the dramas, MILE HIGH for Sky and DAYLIGHT ROBBERY for ITV. He joined formats specialists ACTION TIME in 1999 and produced two series of THE MOLE. He was invited to join Carlton as Head of Factual Development in 2002, creating and managing new programming such as KILLERS ON CAMERA (ITV) and BRITANNIC: THE TITANIC’S LOST SISTER for Five and National Geographic US.
